Article B2.5.4 now considers only "unserved grid penalties for the Race imposed in the previous twelve (12) months." Bottas himself confirmed this on Instagram and later at the Melbourne press conference, quipping, "Apparently it's vanished thanks to some new regulation."
The incident that led to this penalty was a collision with Kevin Magnussen, causing the Haas driver to spin. Initially, Bottas received a 10-second penalty, but it was converted to a grid penalty when he retired from the race.
