Catalans Dragons Secure Scrum-Half Lewis Dodd's Future: A Year-Long Extension
The Perpignan-based Catalans Dragons have secured the services of former St Helens scrum-half Lewis Dodd for an additional year. Initially joining on a one-year contract for the 2026 Super League season, Dodd's commitment to the French club has been extended.
Dodd's rugby journey began at St Helens, where he made a name for himself. However, he left the Saints at the end of 2024 to join the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL on a three-year deal. His time in Australia was short-lived, as he made only six appearances before being released. Despite this, Dodd's impact at St Helens was significant, winning three Super League titles, the Challenge Cup, and kicking the winning drop goal in the 2023 World Club Challenge victory over the Penrith Panthers.
The Catalans Dragons' head coach, Joel Tomkins, expressed his delight at Dodd's extension, stating, 'I am delighted to extend Lewis for an extra year. He has settled in really well in France and is already a very well-liked member of the squad. This signing gives us some consistency in an important position for the next couple of seasons.'
This extension is a strategic move for the Dragons, ensuring stability in a key position and providing Dodd with the opportunity to continue his rugby development in a new environment.
