In a remarkable turn of events, Hudson Williams has discovered just how influential his show, Heated Rivalry, has become through the messages flooding his inbox. In a recent segment for tomorrow’s episode of Radio Andy on SiriusXM, Williams revealed that numerous athletes who are still in the closet have taken the initiative to express their support via direct messages. He explained that he has been approached by individuals who prefer to remain somewhat anonymous, saying, "I’m still a professional player and I’m still in the closet." Notably, this outreach isn't limited to just one sport; Williams has received messages from professional athletes across hockey, basketball, and football.
"They often reach out to Rachel [Reid], our show's author, who then shares these heartfelt anonymous notes with us. Occasionally, they connect with me directly through platforms like Instagram," Williams shared. "Those messages truly resonate and remind you that while this show is intended to be fun and celebratory, it also touches on very personal and sometimes painful experiences for many."
By any standard measure, Heated Rivalry has emerged as a significant hit. Whether evaluating its impact on lives, viewing ratings, or even Carly Rae Jepsen's interest in contributing music to the series, the show seems to be exceeding all expectations. Following creator Jacob Tierney's wish for Jepsen to create a song for the second season, the pop sensation has officially started following the show’s Instagram account. This exciting development signals that big things are on the horizon for the series.
