Tomorrow evening, the complete lineup of artists for UMK 2026 will be officially unveiled. Mark your calendars for January 14th, when the seven finalists will be revealed during a live TV broadcast. But that's not all! Each entry, complete with its music video, will be released individually between January 15th and 23rd.
And this year's competition is already breaking records! A staggering 491 songs were submitted for UMK 2026, showcasing the immense talent and enthusiasm surrounding the event.
The grand finale, UMK 2026, is scheduled for February 28th at the Nokia Arena in Tampere. The winner will earn the honor of representing Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, which will be held in Austria.
Let's not forget Erika Vikman, who represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with her song "Ich komme." Finland achieved an impressive 11th place in the final, accumulating 196 points. They even received the coveted 12 points from the Austrian jury, and 10 points from the public in Sweden, Australia, and Estonia.
Finland's Eurovision journey began in 1961, alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Over the years, they've experienced the highs and lows of the competition, including finishing last 10 times and receiving 'nul points' on three occasions. But their moment of glory finally arrived in 2006 when Lordi, with their iconic song "Hard Rock Hallelujah," triumphed in Athens, scoring a record-breaking 292 points at the time.
